Owners of the BMW S 1000 RR supersports bike can further the transformation of their motorcycle into the perfect track and race machine with the new HP Race Gearshift-Pattern Reverser.
The Gearshift-Pattern Reverser, the latest in a series of High Performance accessories for the S 1000 RR from BMW Motorrad,inverts the gearbox layout from a ‘one-down five-up’ configuration to a race ‘one-up five-down’ setup.


Running a reversed gear pattern allows track riders and racers to shift up a gear with the bike banked fully over in a left-hand bend, where it would normally be difficult to do so as the rider’s foot could not get under the lever to shift up. BMW Motorrad has been named Motorcycle News’ Manufacturer of the Year for 2011.

In addition, the K 1600 GT was awarded Tourer of the Year and the S 1000 RR, which took two awards in 2010, was named Best Sportsbike over 601cc.

Judged and presented by Motorcycle News, the UK’s biggest-selling motorcycle publication, the annual MCN Awards recognise technical innovations, outstanding motorcycles and sales success within the industry.

BMW Motorrad took the prestigious Manufacturer of the Year Award, with the judges saying: “As one of a handful of firms to show real growth in a major downturn, BMW is obviously doing something right. Perhaps it’s the way the firm continues to innovate and advance motorcycling itself by setting new standards of technology and design.”

Richard Cooper was presented with the 2011 Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship trophy today in front of the Brands Hatch crowds at the final race weekend of the year. BSB-EVO rider Barry Burrell secured third place in the series with two podium finishes at an incident-heavy Brands Hatch.

Cooper secured the Superstock 1000 title two weeks ago at Silverstone where he extended his lead to 46.5 points - guaranteeing him the championship whatever the outcome of the final race. However, today's race was red-flagged after just two laps due to several crashes.
